In Search of Traces of Marni


Southeastern Calpheon, Marni's Lab

On the opposite side of Glutoni Cave, which extends from Keplan,
is Marni's Lab, where the bizarre creatures live and breathe.

This is the first place where traces of Marni can be found,
and it is also where he once immersed himself in inventions and experiments.

The Calpheon military dispatched investigators to examine the strange specimens,
but they failed to find Marni, leaving only his experimental subjects behind.

Some speculate that Marni might not be missing but rather chose to flee on his own.

The appearance of the test subjects remaining in Marni's Lab is truly bizarre.

Chickens injected with a special solution move using the muscles of an Orc,
and there are Harpies with faces in the shape of a box combined with instruments.

The grotesque appearance of these experimental subjects is enough to deter anyone from approaching,
yet it also serves as evidence of Marni's deep knowledge of science.

Perhaps that's why the world calls him a Mad Scientist.

Southern Mediah, Marni's 2nd Lab



The next traces of Marni can be found in Southern Mediah.

This is where Marni, who vanished from Calpheon,
stayed for quite some time, converting unused buildings into labs.
Given its considerable scale, it's speculated that someone might have helped him.

The test subjects left here also reflect a high level of scientific sophistication,
yet their appearance is as grotesque as those in the Calpheon Lab.

Mutant Chimeras, whose heads blaze like portable braziers,
and Mutated Saunils, whose bodies have been modified
to be powerful and unable to feel pain, can be found here.

While it's still unknown why Marni used science in this way,
one thing is clear: he was obsessed with it.



Southern Mediah, Underground Laboratory

Beneath the Mediah Lab lies an underground laboratory
where you can hear about Marni from a being you encounter there.

This being, who refers to Marni as the "Great Scientist,"
introduces itself as an excellent assistant, Bavatu.

When Marni stayed in Mediah,
it is speculated that he first created Bavatu and
received its assistance in converting buildings into his 2nd Lab.

Its outer appearance resembles an Orc; however, after Marni left,
no one was left to maintain Bavatu, and its parts gradually disappeared one by one,
making it hard to recognize as a living creature now.

Bavatu manages the test subjects here in Marni's absence,
but is troubled by their recent frenzy.

This seems almost inevitable as they are Mutated Obsidian Monsters,
created by combining Mud Monsters with Obsidian Ore, lurking around.

A notable feature of these subjects is that they are no longer living.
This provides further evidence of the increasingly unpredictable nature of Marni's technology.

Mountain of Eternal Winter, Tori Woods





So, where is this mad or great scientist, Marni, now?
He can currently be found in Tori Woods, located in the Mountain of Eternal Winter.
The name "Tori" in Tori Woods is also the name of Marni's assistant.

Tori Woods is where Marni, who had been drifting about due to various incidents,
is now in hiding and continuing his new research.
It's said that his peculiar experiments often contaminated the forest's water.

Believing there was no better place for his experiments,
Marni personally built a purification tank to continue his work.
However, since he dislikes water, his assistant Tori manages it daily.

Here, you can easily encounter the test subjects Marni has been researching.

At first glance, they may seem similar to the test subjects in Calpheon and Mediah,
but Marni introduces them as modified test subjects, showcasing his skills.
He adds that the subtle enhancements create significant differences.

This offers a glimpse of the great and mad scientist's perfectionist side.

They have evolved into a more advanced form thanks to Marni's intricate skills.

Watching the test subjects move like playful children
is almost as if you're observing living creatures.
