Legend of the Golden Pig
"Legend of the Golden Pig"
Once upon a time, a new satto (governor) was appointed in a town.
However, there was not a single woman to be seen in the town.
When the satto asked a villager, they replied, "Every night, a woman disappears from town."
The wise satto attached a string to his wife's closing before going to sleep.
His wife disappeared that night, just like the other women.
He followed the string he had attached, and he was able to find where the golden pig lived.
According to his wife who was held captive by the pig, deer hide was what the golden pig feared most.
The satto used this golden pig's weakness and took the deer hide and put it on the sleeping golden pig. Soon enough, the golden pig was defeated.
The satto, who had defeated the golden pig, could return the women from the mountain, back to the village.
The golden pig is known as the pig monster who lives in cave and kidnaps women to feast on them or turn them into a servant. Its weakness is known to be deer hide, often used in the past in ancestral ceremonies.
