Post-Calpheon Ball Development Progress

Greetings, Adventurers!
This is the Black Desert Mobile Team.

When we held the Calpheon Ball for our Adventurers, it was the middle of winter last year.
Time surely does fly, as it's already February of 2023.

We believe that if the adventures we provide are enjoyable, Black Desert Mobile will naturally become a more fun game to play.
As such, we are constantly striving to provide more interesting and unforgettable experiences for our Adventurers.

We are currently doing our best to develop and present the update schedule and show a direction that matches what we mentioned during the Calpheon Ball. We want that event to stay meaningful and show continued progress for our Adventurers.

We've prepared this developer notes to share with our Adventurers
the updates that have been made and our plans for the future. 📓

Updates Since the Calpheon Ball

At the Calpheon Ball, we talked about the new updates and improvements that were coming to Black Desert Mobile.
We are carrying out updates one by one, hoping that you will enjoy each of them.

In this summary, we have organized our recent updates so that you can conveniently check which of the changes mentioned at the Calpheon Ball have been made.

We hope this suitably explains updates that you have been curious about.

Balance Changes to the Twin Classes Maegu and Woosa

Maegu and Woosa are Black Desert Mobile's first-ever twin classes. Maegu was released on December 13, right after the Calpheon Ball, and Woosa was released a month later on January 17. Since the release, we noticed that both classes are being loved and played by many of our Adventurers.

As they are receiving a lot of love and attention, many Adventurers are also interested in the balance changes for these classes. First of all, we apologize for the delay in balancing. Our overall direction for balance patches is to first adjust classes with poor performance to reduce any discomfort in playing them. Then, after a more detailed assessment, we move on to adjusting classes who are vastly overperforming. Nobody would find the sudden nerf of a powerful class to be appealing, and that is why we adjust underperforming classes first. As our Adventurers may already be aware, balance can only be achieved through constant effort. We plan to adjust class balance through multiple updates and continuous monitoring. This naturally requires some time, so we humbly ask for your understanding and patience.

Universal Weapons

We are developing new classes, starting from Maegu, so that they can only use Universal Weapons. We believe it would have been confusing for some Adventurers who switched to these new classes and found that they were not able to use Awakening/Ascension Weapon Transformation Coupons on their weapons.
We have updated information in the item descriptions regarding the available classes for using awakening/succession weapon exchange tickets, but we are also planning a comprehensive overhaul to prevent confusion regarding weapon exchange in the future.

New Great Desert Difficulty: Shahzad

The Shahzad difficulty was added to the Great Desert along with Dream Horse Diné and Apocros. Prior to the update, the participation rate for Imur and Torme difficulties were around 61% and 39%, respectively. After the update, the participation rates were about 55% for Imur, 31% for Torme, and 14% for Shahzad, showing more evenly distributed rates. While preparing for the Shahzad update, we hoped to mitigate overcrowded Great Desert difficulties and make additions that can replace Nightmare content, and it seems to be going in the right direction so far. We will continue to monitor the various situations that have arisen since the update and consider possible solutions for them.

Quality of Life and Content Improvements

We have implemented quality of life improvements such as doubling the offerings in the Black Rock Shrine, adding a toggling option for fairies/pets in screenshot mode, and reducing character deletion time. For content improvements, we've optimized Twisted Nightmare, improved Fairy Adventure, and adjusted the difficulty of Fairy Album: Growth, and lowered the difficulty of Co-op Rush: Offin.

The daily limit for Fairy Adventure, as promised at the Calpheon Ball, has been changed to once per day, and the rewards have been tripled for the same 8 hours while only double the Curiosity is spent. We also improved when the adventure is completed, to reduce the issue of forgetting to complete an adventure you sent your fairy on within the same day.

We will continue to make improvements to Fairy content in future updates.

We will continue to listen to your feedback and make improvements
to make your time in Black Desert Mobile a more enjoyable experience. We appreciate your support.

Upcoming Updates

Camp content will be updated in several stages under the name "Camp Renewal."

First, Town Hall, which currently has 8 levels, will be expanded to 9 levels. Buildings such as the Alchemy Lab and Food Storage will also have additional levels, and the appearances of buildings will also change. In addition, a new Family Prestige system will be implemented. In Camp, Family Prestige is content in which you can complete a series of missions to put up a flag suitable for your prestige, and we are working on its development to not make it feel like a mandatory task. Players who enjoy completing side missions will enjoy this content.

Once the first stage of Camp renewal is complete, we plan to introduce another piece of content called Sirare's Prophecy Tablet, which we introduced at the Calpheon Ball. Sirare's Prophecy Tablet began as a solution for the less frequently used items mentioned by many players, and is being developed as a way to acquire buffs or useful items through those items. However, we are not planning to greatly deplete the items that players already possess, as many relatively unused items still see use in Merchant Guild Delivery or as Intellect for your fairy.

In addition, we are working on the development of Mystical workers who will play the role of a leader of all workers, as well as combine and reduce the total number of resources for better efficiency.

We are currently iterating on the developmental direction of Dawnrise Vanguards, as the gameplay style we showcased at the Calpheon Ball could be burdensome for our Adventurers. We will provide more details on the new Dawnrise Vanguards at a later time, as it will be different from what we previously announced.

Additionally, we are currently in the final stages of developing the Wizard class that many of you have been eagerly waiting for, and we are preparing to release it soon. We will do our best to reward your anticipation with a great experience.

Q&A From Our Adventurers

Q: I hope that the rewards for the Black Spirit Quests are increased.

A: We previously discussed content rewards at our last ball, and we are planning to increase rewards from Black Spirit Quests.

Q: Achieving a +8 enhancement level on Gear and Accessories is considered end-game for most players. It's too difficult to attempt a +9 enhancement level. Please give us hope and an opportunity to achieve +9.

A: We've been considering this for a long time, and as our Adventurers get more items for enhancement, they've been attempting high enhancement levels such as from +8 to +10, leading to a slower progression. We are currently preparing a new method of enhancement. For new or returning Adventurers, +8 is still a challenging feat, so we have added the ability to switch to a different type of gear via the Craft menu from +7 Chaos gear. The exchanged gear will start at +0, but its stats will remain at the level of the previous +7 Chaos gear. This new system breaks down the enhancement levels from +0 to +5, and the AP also increases gradually with each enhancement level. However, because the levels are broken down, the amount of AP that increases with each level is not very significant. Therefore, we plan to scale up the amount of AP that increases from +7 to +8 enhancement levels.

Q: Currently some Story quests don't support auto-pathing. The "For Siani!" Story especially can only be completed by searching forums or YouTube for information. Please improve this.

A: Our current approach on puzzles and mysteries may be undesirable due to the nature of the platform our game is on. However, the element of research can be fun for some, as those who enjoy finding hidden objects are typically the first to find them, and they spread that information online. So instead of completely removing this element, we will improve it by strengthening our in-game guides to make hidden items easier to find.

Q: Please prevent us from accidentally starting Guild Boss Rushes when our Elite Tokens are over 2,000.

A: We plan to prevent these mistakes by displaying a confirmation window.

Q: The significance of CP has weakened due to the minimum damage system. Please remove the minimum damage.

A: This has been a concern expressed by many players for a long time, and we have been considering it from various angles. Although we haven't been able to give you a definitive answer until now, we are currently working on improvements.
However, the minimum damage system will not be completely removed. Instead, we will adjust it so that the minimum damage decreases as the difference in CP increases. We will continue to monitor this change to see if it requires further improvements.

Q. What are your plans for new Outfits?

A. We are planning to release more Outfits with lore behind them. Recently we released the Salanar and Secrua Outfits, and now we're considering the release of a series called "Coco-Nutty Pirates." Normally the word "pirate" carries a negative connotation, often related to plundering and battling. However, the Coco-Nutty Pirates are good-willed pirates who keep the island's inhabitants safe.

The Outfits represent the pirate theme with their vibrant colors and unique weapons.

Also, we've prepared a new Outfit for the winning Adventurers of Ramoness and Karkea tournaments.

They will be rewarded in upcoming Ramoness and Karkea tournaments, so we hope you look forward to these Outfits as well!
