Through our post regarding [CalpheON Ball Live Q&A Follow Up] we summarized Ryan’s replies.
In this Part 2 posting, we would like to share some answers that we were not able to address due to time constraints.
Q1: Marriage system in BDM when?
Ryan: Oh wow - a marriage system? This is absolutely not being planned at the moment. I can’t imagine having a marriage system, considering the storyline in the world of Black Desert. Does it have to be a marriage system...? We have Guild system, Bloodkin system in the game, so I recommend making use of these systems instead. Thank you.
Q2: Guild function updates (Giving extra moderator functions, Guildmate participation, etc.)?
Ryan: I really like this idea and will discuss this topic with our developer team.
Q3: Guild Reward System (Opening an event within a guild for a prize and etc.)?
Ryan: This sounds like a great idea. We will see if we can further develop this area as well. Please share any great ideas our Adventurers have in mind, and we’ll also put this into implementation if possible.
Q4: Concerns for Class Balance
Ryan: We are aware that some classes are comparably in disadvantage to certain classes as well. Please note that our Balance Team is working very hard on updating these concerns but there are lots of classes on list for development. We will try our best to address these issues as soon as possible.
Q5: I wish the background graphics are better in Screenshot Mode.
Ryan: I’m sorry you felt that way. I’m wondering what your Graphics Settings were. I advise you to use maximum settings when you’re using Screenshot Mode. I’ll see if we can develop a feature that maximizes Graphics Settings when using Screenshot Mode.
Q6: When will you make High CP Adventurers strong again?
Ryan: If the minimum damage update is the reason for this concern, this question needs to be decided based on serious consideration. There have always been several concerns regarding the CP gap between Adventurers and some that have addressed the same question as mentioned. To address this issue, we will create various contents that allow high CP Adventurers to prove their power and also create contents that can be enjoyed regardless of CP. Our utmost goal is to create a game atmosphere where all of our Adventurers can enjoy the game as provided.
Q7: Now it looks PvP is all about Resistance and Grab abilities.
Ryan: I’m assuming the question is related to Immunity and Super Armor. These factors are one of our main concerns whenever we plan a Class Balance Patch. There is always a controversy regarding one class becoming too OP, and some other classes becoming less advantageous. It’s a very difficult issue, honestly speaking. We are planning to try various ways such as removing Super Armor from a skill or transferring Super Armor to a different skill. Our developers will continuously try to find a satisfying solution.
Ryan: After this announcement was posted, I was informed that the answer was not sufficient to address our Adventurer’s concerns and would like to give it another shot.
First, let’s talk about grab related stories. For Adventurers who have mastered the art of grabbing, we are aware that they know the exact moves of the opponent class and accurately show an amazing performance in 1v1 dominantly. Deciding on nerfing existing grab skills for current classes would be a decision that hurts these Adventurers. But to address these concerns during this year we have added grab immunity skills to counter against grab skills.
As I deeply understand your concerns and view on grab abilities, please take another look at the current (and planned) skill list that have grab immunity: (Berserker : Berserker’s Charge, Windwalker : X-Strike, Archmage : Firestorm, Titan : Falling Rock, Raven : Doom Vortex, Reaper : Soul Reaver, Blademaster : Quick-Draw, Lupa: Maul, Spiritwalker: Dance of the Red Phoenix ,Sura: Shadow Break, Void Knight: Dark Mist, Phantasma: Phantom Dash, Grandmaster: Rising Uppercut, Lotus : Blood Moon, Flash Step, Lahn : Crescent Barrage (Flow: Staccato Slash), Mystic : Fury Dive, Shai : And a One!: Flow: And an Exciting Two!, Kunoichi: Rain of Steel, Archer : Descending Current, Fletcher : Deadshot, Hashashin : Eye of the Storm, Eclipse : Meteor Fleche, Corsair : Riding Waves (Flow: Parting Waters), Descending Tide, Sage : Spatial Collapse)
We will also make sure anti-grab mechanisms are prepared for our future Class Balance and New Class updates as well.
Leading on, let’s talk about Resistance in Black Desert Mobile.
I am sure many of our Adventurers have experienced arcade fighting games with cool combo moves. Black Desert Mobile’s PVP is different from these fighting games, but similar in terms of having a combo system for each class with CC(Crowd Control) skills. Currently, the BDM world of CC provides Adventurers with skills such as: Daze on hit, Stun, Knock-down, Knock-back, Freeze, Bound, Knock-up, and Grab.
The Resistance percentage was designed as a safety device for Adventurers to prevent a one-sided victory from combos and CC skills. As Black Desert Mobile is featured as a mobile game, we also need to consider internet connection, device troubleshooting and issues as well regarding our plans for PVP. We are aware of our Adventurer’s voices asking to have an arena without these variables to prove the strongest and will continue to listen our Adventurers to check on further improvements in the future.
Q8: Can we have “genderless” outfits in the game?
Ryan: I’m sorry but our current top priority when designing outfits is making the outfit highlight the unique characteristics of the class. That is why we are not planning to develop a genderless outfit at the moment. But when we get to develop a genderless outfit, I’ll make sure the outfit is released to the Global version as soon as possible.
Q9: How come newly released classes get free Professional Outfits, while existing classes get none?
Ryan: First, I apologize for this issue. This was one of the reasons why we decided to provide Professional Outfit Exchange Coupon for all Adventurers. We will try harder to satisfy the needs of existing Adventurers – not just new Adventurers.
Q10: Global version needs more outfits. We want all the outfits for all classes!
Ryan: Sure! I’ll see what I can do and try to provide as many outfits as possible.
Q11: I wish we had more various customization options and tattoo option in the game.
Ryan: All right, I see what you’re saying. I’ll see what improvements can be made regarding appearance customization, as long as it follows the storyline of the world of Black Desert.
Q12: Why does Global version always follow KR version’s updates?
We are not just “following” KR version’s updates because KR is more important and Global version is less important. It’s more like, we are focusing on minimizing the time gap between KR’s updates and GL’s updates. We are working to “catch-up” the contents in KR version as soon as we can, so that our Global Adventurers can have an opportunity to enjoy new contents quickly and this allows us to receive feedback from our Adventurers quickly. By receiving quick feedback, we will be able to quickly figure out what to do for our Adventurers.
Q13: Why are new map zones comparably slower than Korea?
Ryan: We would also like to introduce new content to our Adventurers that are already available in Korea as well. However, there is a relatively higher CP requirement for our Global Adventurers. And by just releasing without considering our CP growth, this would result in widening the CP gap between Adventurers. We also considered implementing a rapid CP growth system but also realized the consequences that follow as this would also result in limitations for our Adventurers. In addition, this would also hinder the effort put on existing Adventurers that achieved CP growth in a steeper difficulty. Therefore, to balance and respect all our Adventurers, we are slowly progressing to new content by aiding our Adventurers on growth and lessen the power gap for CP as well.
Q14: Why would you nerf ‘Silver’ and ‘Tear of the Goddess’ rewards for Adventurers with the update ‘Expedition Gateway: Pirate Island’?
Ryan: After talking with our team after the update on 12/21, I also added this question to share with our Adventurers. The ‘Expedition Gateway: Pirate Island’ content was added to remove forced repeated tasks for Great Ocean as known. However, it was also our intention to ensure that Adventurers received the equivalent number of rewards for this update as well. However, since these rewards are given equally disregarding growth on Great Ocean, please note that the rewards you receive from ‘Pirate Island’ are equivalent to the highest rewards you could previously achieve from the Great Ocean weekly (Example: 10 ‘Cursed Pirate Island Pass’ entries used will give a reward of 50,000,000,000 ‘Silver’, 50,000 ‘Tears of the Goddess’, and even 400 ‘Holy Vial of Light’ as well). We apologize for giving confusion on this content and affirm that rewards attainable from the Great Ocean have not been reduced in any way.
Q15: All the effort put into my Ship has become meaningless after the update on 12/21
Ryan: First, we apologize for Adventurers that have been enjoying our existing content for Great Ocean. As we shared through Developer’s Comment on 12/21 Patch Notes, Great Ocean was designed to be a joyful experience for anyone, enjoying the discovery of hidden islands, knowledge, upgrading ships. The future for Great Ocean will also follow this motive and strive to give the vast waters a joyful surprise while not forcing Adventurers to participate.
Q16: Endurance in Great Ocean needs to last longer!
Ryan: Firstly, thank you for enjoying Great Ocean. Endurance is linked to obtainable loots; not how strong the monsters are. Easily put, going after better loots in Great Ocean will require more Endurance. Eventually, the amount of time needed for CP Growth through playing Great Ocean will decrease.
Q17: Please lower the requirements and increase the rewards for Weekly Tasks. Also, please nerf the monsters.
Ryan: I guess the Weekly Tasks are burdensome to some Adventurers. I will try to lessen the burden for the Weekly Tasks. However, increasing the rewards is not an easy business because increasing the rewards may make the tasks an essential.
Q18: Can we have a 1st-person camera view?
Ryan: I’m sorry but 1st person camera view will lower the graphic quality because Black Desert Mobile was not developed to support 1st person camera view from the beginning.
Q19: Are we having any updates for Ramoness? CP Balancing seems meaningless these days...
Ryan: I apologize for the disappointment for our Adventurers. We will check if there are any existing problems for Ramoness and discuss further regarding improved content.
Q20: Bidding at Siege War needs serious improvements. Same guild is winning all the time.
Ryan: We are aware of the issues regarding Bidding at Siege War. As mentioned earlier, we are planning on making some additions to Siege War system and track if these additions were effective. However, if we continue to witness problems regarding Siege War bidding, we will consider making changes to bidding rules.
Q21: Can you shorten the time it takes to level up our Life Skills? / Can you increase the drop rates for Treasure Materials?
Ryan: I'm assuming this request is based on Adventurers’ craving for Treasure materials. Treasure items are supposed to be super rare and precious, so I think the process of getting one should not be too easy. I understand it’s very hard to get, but your time and effort will be repaid for sure!
Q22: We want non-human classes in the game, like Otters!
Ryan: In the Black Desert universe, we have animal characters such as the Crio that are positioned as NPCs in our world. Unfortunately, we currently do not have plans to release a non-human playable character. These animal characters are extremely cute and do not fit the criteria for becoming an Adventurer for the Black Desert universe.
